Most homes in Boston have non-standard window sizes — especially older homes. Generic screens from hardware stores never quite fit, leaving gaps that let insects in. We build custom screens to your exact window dimensions, repair tears in existing screens, and rebuild damaged screen frames.

Types of mesh we install

Standard fiberglass

The most common screen mesh — affordable, flexible, and easy to repair. Lasts 10–15 years in normal conditions. Standard 18x16 mesh.

Fine-weave fiberglass (no-see-um)

20x20 mesh that blocks even the smallest insects — gnats, no-see-ums, sand flies — while still allowing good airflow. Recommended for waterfront properties or homes near woods.

Aluminum mesh

More durable than fiberglass and pet-resistant, but can dent or crease. Good for high-traffic areas or homes with dogs and cats.

Pet-resistant mesh

Heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester. Resists tearing from claws and scratching. Costs more but lasts much longer in homes with pets.

Custom screens vs. store-bought

Hardware store screens come in fixed sizes — 24x36, 28x54, etc. The problem: most windows in older Boston homes are non-standard. A screen that's 1/4 inch too small leaves a gap big enough for insects. We measure on-site and build screens that fit precisely.
